Floor can seemingly do any style or color she wants. It shows her versatility. I'm not a big fan of the operatic sound where you can't understand the lyrics and it just sounds muddy. It's usually not in good timing either for some reason. Floor has trained hard to overcome all of those issues.

Just as John Bonham KNEW the "power of the pause" on the drums, so the master David Gilmour understands the "squeezing of each note"- when to attack, when to release, & his understanding of "intervals" between notes is simply amazing: how he uses those intervals to "lift or hold" you in the melody. He's truly in a class by himself.... & a humble man. I love you, David Gilmour-you're my guitar hero! Thanks for posting, Bro'!

I don't enjoy his music, which is all that matters to me. He attracts a lot of chin-rubbers too, which makes him seem inauthentic. That's not his fault, but his fans can be annoying. I like artists that experiment, but I just don't like his results. He's got a long road ahead, though - I'm sure he'll bang out something I like one day!

It's funny that your 'band leader' thought Jacob's music was out-of-tune given that Jacob has perfect pitch and your band leader obviously, does not. People said the same thing about Stravinsky and Mozart. "Too many notes!" Lol. Mozart didn't use too many notes and Collier doesn't use too many harmonies. Your ears just haven't evolved enough. Future generations will have no problems with his harmonies.

This is a masterpiece and I was present at the birth and introduced the band onstage for their warm-up prior to their ‘world premiere’ of the Meddle album. David is wearing the Hendrix guitar strap that he bought and often uses.

You stopped before the song was over! There's another incredible instrumental part and the final verse AFTER the ProgRock psychedelic sounds. The beginning of the psychedelic sounds is the beginning of "Echoes" Part 2. You stopped in the middle of the song! No one should ever do that with Pink Floyd. This performance of "Echoes" is both parts 1 and 2 consecutively, unlike the 1971 recording on Pink Floyds 6th album "Echoes", where it was broken up into 2 separate parts. This performance has a very special significance, over all these years this was a special song for Dave Gilmour and Rick Wright, together exclusively, they sang the harmony over all these decades. This performance in 2006 was the last time the song was ever performed as Richard Wright died two years later from cancer. David Gilmour said after Wrights death,... he would never perform the song again. Andrew Lloyd Weber ripped off Pink Floyd with that riff, in fact Roger Waters had considered suing Weber but decided against it. The riff, chords and notes are C#m to A maj chords, walking down the notes,... C#, C, B, Bb, landing on A, then walking back up again to C#.

Solid reaction to this one, even though it's an incomplete video. It's not your fault, whoever uploaded this should be ashamed. lol The official version of this particular show is one long composition. I personally love the Remember That Night DVD as a whole more than the Live At Gdansk DVD (both 2006), but I prefer the Gdansk version of Echoes. There are 3 essential versions of Echoes. The original studio version, the Live At Pompeii version from 1972, and the Gdansk which incorporates the best elements of the other two into one. I would rate this as the fourth best version. Also, Echoes was released in 1971, and I believe ALW did the music for Phantom in 1974, '75, or '76. He absolutely stole the main riff from Floyd.

Dave Gilmour does seem to use alot of bends in his playing and some really big stretches. Think because the human brain picks up the curve rather than the step it just ramps up the emotional aspect to such a high level. And not only does he do that alot, he never misses where he's going, even with those really big bends he just seems to nail it perfectly.

I understand this was a paid request, but it was a bad choice of either specific video, or the concert. The song is some 23:30 long and was the entire side of the album Meddle. This video cut it short by a substantial amount, and honestly the performance was poor compared to other ones. Even other ones by this grouping alongside David the Rick, such as their performance in Gdansk. Please consider re doing it with a better version, as it is epic in the sonic journeyL ua-cam.com/video/EMneCi9F_UQ/v-deo.html ( David Gilmour - Echoes (Live In Gdańsk) ) The quality of the recording and playing is infinitely better than the version you watched. And this is one of the last times it was performed by David and Richard, as Richard passed away shortly after this concert. David refuses to play the song anymore without Richard on keys. And their combined outro is simply sublime....

I’ve heard Knopfler compared to Gilmour before. Love them both but only recently have been able to discern the similarities in their styles. The biggest difference between them are the effects and reverb that David uses. But Gilmour was doing this before Knopfler. This is from 1971! Anyway as someone else mentioned, the second half of this song is the best part.

I often noticed that we, fans of dire straits, are often also the fans of Pink Floyd. I think it is because of the "simple-but-not-that-simple" aspect of the compositions. And the common aspect, as it was said here, is that David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler have both a very Melodic approach. Even if their technique differs, none of theme is schredding for schredding. They just have that taste that allows them to hit the right note at the right time. And there is a lot of dynamic in their music. When you here them play, you get the blues influence but with a kind of European, almost classical approach. Geniuses both of them. When I started to get interested in music, my holy trilogy was Pink Floyd, Dire straits and Eric Clapton. Then I bought guitars and got into Beatles, Bowie, Led Zeppelin on one side, Radiohead on the other side and all other kinds of stuffs (jazz, blues, electronic). But it is always a pleasure to get back to my first loves with reaction channels.
